- East Asia's only worldwide postal history dealer -

Buying terms

Dear collector, dear fellow dealer

let's start with the most important right away - we have a nearly unsatiable need for postal history of the world, any country, any period, any range of prices, and we are constantly buying - not only pretending to buy, but actively buying! - single items, collections and job lots. They have to satisfy only very few criteria:

  • Every item we buy must be a commercial cover, i.e.it must have been through the mail, serving a genuine purpose. It is well understood, that unadressed and/or overfranked FDC do not fall into this range. However, so-called "philatelic mail" may be of interest, if the face value of the stamps corresponds to the actual postage rate.
  • Every item we buy must be of sound quality. While we allow for the usual traces of having been in the mail, we do not buy covers with torn flaps, large tears, stamps removed or fallen off, illegible postmarks or damaged stamps.
  • The seller makes the price. You are kindly requested to quote a price for every item you wish to sell to us. If you wish to sell for the highest price, which is reasonable and understandable, you are kindly requested to submit your material for auction. We will either accept or decline your offer.
  • Please note, that for the time being, we do not buy large size or legal size covers. Those are extremely difficult to sell. Maximum size acceptable: 180mm x 130mm (7 in.x 5 in.). Asian style "vertical size" is no problem for us, if it's domestic mail.

It's that easy, and it doesn't get any easier. If the above criteria are met, we will be glad to have the material shipped for inspection, and we will settle or return within 48 hours. And this is how it works:

  1. Send your goods to us by registered airmail. If you are anxious about arrival, attach a return receipt.
  2. Quote your preferred method of payment. We will either pay by post giro transfer or by postal money order free of charge to you. If you choose a bank draft for payment, bank charges will be deducted from amounts of less than 100,000 Japanese Yen or the equivalent (ca.US$900). Cash payments (banknotes by registered mail) are possible only in certain cases and at the seller's risk. Please enquire.
  3. If the items sent are not commercial covers, or if our quality standards aren't met, the seller pays for return postage. If we return due to prices beyond what we would be willing to pay, we pay for return postage.
  4. Payment or return are guaranteed within 48 hours of receipt.
  5. If you are a regular buyer, you can also instruct us to put any amount due as credit against your future purchases. Please note, that past purchases have to be paid for in cash, not in goods.

And now, we, the friendly and efficient team of The Cover Exchange, are looking forward to receiving your shipment.
